Owl Butterfly

The distinctive patterns of the Owl Butterfly are nature's smart deterrent to help protect it from predators. Eye-mimicry confuses Great Tits into thinking it is an Owl - resembling a Pigmy Owl. The colour of this wonderful butterfly and its textural design will also blend with tree bark as a form of camouflage. In the Butterfly House they contrasted against the lush foliage which enhanced their intricate patterns. Bx

Chrysalis - Butterfly House Blenheim Palace

The Butterfly House at Blenheim also breed butterflies, they have two glass cabinets full of chrysalis at varying stages of the transformation including butterflies that have emerged from their protective cocoon.
A fabulous educational tool.
It is not easy taking photos through glass. However, I managed to photograph two that were spectacular shapes and colours, like extraterrestrial beings. Bx

Black & White Spotted Butterflies - Butterfly House

Black & White Tropical Butterfly - Black Veined Tiger

What a stunning butterfly. The Danaus Melanippus - Black Veined Tiger / White Tiger is a species found in Asia. My closeup photography captures a detailed view of this black & white beauty. Large patterned wings, a decorative body, covered in sensory hairs. Love the contrast of the pink flower Bx
